Nodusfall's key differentiator is four-player co-op boss hunting, making it closer to Monster Hunter than to Elden Ring. The accusations are based on visual similarities alone, with no official gameplay footage released. While Elden Ring's award-winning influence is undeniable, legal risk for HoYoverse remains low because mechanics and genre tropes are not protected by copyright. The real risk is reputational: once the 'copy' label sticks, it may survive longer than the truth. History shows that games like Wild Hearts and Fortnite were initially called clones, then later defined their own identities. HoYoverse can do the same if it proves Nodusfall's co-op mechanics are genuinely unique. The controversy should end when real gameplay is revealed, not when fans shout louder on social media.
